Day 2 – Zutara Month
They waded through the water, slowly making their way through a cave she had found a few days before and was "so excited" to show him. He couldn't stop looking at the arch of her back and how smooth her skin was, even as the light from the sun dimmed the further in the cave they went.
The light disappeared. Zuko looked back at the entrance of the cave, as if he was scared of losing it. He wasn't though; it just came as a natural reaction. He faced forward once more, and couldn't see anything. The only indication of Katara's presence was the small lapping sounds from her movement in the water.
They walked on in comfortable quiet. Zuko followed the sound of Katara humming an impromptu tune, the only thing keeping him from running into a wall. It was also something that kept him in a sort of trance of just her. It was enticing and dizzying, the sound of her voice. He was caught in the sound that seemed to resonate through the entire world at the moment.
He smashed straight into her, not realizing she had stopped short.
"Sorry," he said, "I can't see a thing in here."
"That's the beauty of it," her voice answered from merely inches away, "You let your mind create the world around you. There are infinite possibilities."
He ignored her anyways, lighting a fire in his palms, which shed light on that beautiful face of hers that was so close to his. She started to protest, but paused and watched the flame. A smile slowly appeared.
"I guess having light in here isn't so bad either."
Zuko smiled in reply and kissed her cheek on impulse. A deep red flushed to her cheeks, and she stared down at the fire, trying to keep a straight face. She looked up just in time. Zuko was already leaning towards her.
She met him halfway. The light from the flame grew brighter, illuminating an entire world around them.
